Paul and Victoria Goodman, Somerset
In the sweeping valleys of Somerset farmland lies this 15th century farmhouse, where the owners, Paul and Victoria Goodman wanted rustic wood flooring to compliment the original features of their home.
The house is part of a farm, and has been owned by Paul and Victoria for the past 30 years, continuing its life as a working farmhouse where they raised their 3 children. It’s been lovingly restored throughout their time at the farm and offers an authentic glimpse of history to the area.
Upstairs, the flooring between the master bedroom and bathroom has been made of disjointed painted floorboards, which were retrofitted in the 20th century. The couple decided they wanted a rustic wood flooring for the space. The warm honey tones of the Oak wood flooring beautifully compliment the cob walls.
The history of the house has been lovingly restored through the use of local and authentic materials. Heritage Oak was described to the Goodman’s as a rustic wood flooring, with undulations that gave a sense of time that had passed, and a feeling of intimacy that you wouldn’t experience to such an extent with other types of Oak wood flooring.
We were mindful of keeping to the traditional structure and décor of the house, by choosing to lay Heritage Oak we were able to give something back to the house, which was important to us. We’ve laid a rustic wood floor that will last for generations to come.
