Estate Oak Range / Pentillie Castle Estate

“The oldest part of Cornwall was the wood as black as night”
John Betjeman

Discover the undulating Oak boards of the Grade II* listed Pentillie Castle Estate Range. Grown in 2,000 acres of managed parkland and woodland along the rolling river Tamer, the Oak trees used in this Estate Range can become part of your family’s heritage.

The Oaks have been chosen specifically from Pentillie Castle Estate for their size, character, and ability to create a timeless unique flooring sourced from the heartland of Cornwall.  We’ve expertly sawn the Pentillie Castle Estate Range flooring with the rolling hills and surging waves of the Cornish landscape in our minds, working with the natural knots and pips of the timber.

In keeping with the sustainable ethos of UK Hardwoods, Pentillie Castle Estate to this day show the advantages of horse logging through demonstrations in their woodlands. The wild steep ground and dense woodland that requires horse logging brings a history to this flooring range that is reflected in every board. Cat’s paws, medullary rays, undulations and knots can be displayed in your flooring, much like the flooring of houses an era ago.

Pentillie Castle Estate was completed in 1698, and landscaped by famous landscape designer Humphry Repton later in 1809. We’ve used this knowledge to create a classic floor, sympathetically crafting the boards to respect the time they’ve had to grow.  The planting of trees was a major focus for Humphrey, who enjoyed, ‘producing useful designs for his clients’ as we create a Pentillie Castle Estate Range that is useful and practical as well as beautifully historic for you.

Pentillie Castle Estate continues to give much back to its community. Having been used during the Second World War as a maternity hospital for the surrounding towns and villages, it now hosts annual events and is open to the public. Become part of this Estate’s history, and create for your home a timeless floor that will last for generations to come.

The flooring will be available in April 2020. There is limited stock of The Pentillie Castle Estate Range so we do advise pre-booking.
